Our Work: Stories from the Road, Written Together

This is where we keep the record of what we actually do: the routes we test, the guesthouses we visit unannounced, and the photo spots we scout before recommending them. Every article on this site starts as a real trip, with notes, maps and a few wrong turns. Here you can see how those trips become the guides we publish.

How Elsa & Tronny Grew Into a Travel Journal

From a single weekend notebook to a full editorial archive, the project took shape in small, deliberate steps. Each stage added a new layer: a route, a reader, a way of telling a story.

First Escapade, 2019

We started with a two-day drive along the Konkan coast, keeping handwritten notes of every detour and tea stall. That trip became the template for how we still plan routes today.

First Published Route, 2020

After months of testing, we shared our first scenic itinerary online. It covered a quiet loop through the Western Ghats, with maps drawn by hand and honest notes on road conditions.

Boutique Stay Reviews, 2021

Readers kept asking where to sleep, so we began reviewing small guesthouses and heritage homes. Every property is visited unannounced and paid for out of pocket.

Photography Guides, 2022

Landscape photography became a natural companion to our travel notes. We started publishing sunrise and golden-hour guides, with camera settings and composition tips for beginners.

Reader Community, 2023

Our newsletter grew into a small community of couples who share their own route suggestions. Many of the itineraries we publish now begin as reader tips.

Full Editorial Archive, 2024

Today the journal holds more than forty route guides, stay reviews and photo essays. The original notebook still sits on our desk, now filled with plans for the next season.

How Elsa & Tronny Grew Into a Travel Journal

From a shared notebook of weekend drives to a digital magazine with a loyal readership, the project took shape through small decisions, patient editing and a clear idea of what we wanted to say.

2019

First Route Notes

The blog began as a private folder of handwritten directions, petrol stops and picnic spots we liked. We never planned to publish it; we just wanted to remember the good parts of each trip.

2021

From Notes to Articles

After friends kept asking for the same recommendations, we turned the folder into short illustrated posts. The first public piece covered a quiet stretch of the Western Ghats and still gets regular visits.

2022

Boutique Stays Section

Readers wrote in asking where we slept, so we added a dedicated section for small guesthouses and restored farm stays. We only feature places we have personally checked and paid for.

2023

Photography Guides

Landscape photography became a natural extension of the journal. We started publishing practical guides on capturing morning light, reading weather maps and framing coastal views without expensive gear.

2024

Reader Routes

Subscribers began sending their own itineraries. We now publish a selection of reader-submitted routes each season, edited to match the same calm, unhurried tone as the rest of the magazine.

2025

Print Anthology

The year closed with a printed collection of our favourite essays and maps. It sold out in six weeks, which reminded us that slow, careful storytelling still has a place.
